~ St.Anne,
Newcastle Upon Tyne ~ |
|
|
A very pleasant church, hidden
away to the side of City Road - Newcastle Upon Tyne. Consecrated in
1768, it is built on the site of a medieval Chapel. The stone used
to build the church was taken from sections of the City Walls which
ran alongside the Quayside. The churchyard was the last in the City
to be closed for burials and contains a mass grave of those who died
from the last great cholera epidemic. |
