~ St.Mary, Sturminster
Newton ~ |

|
Sturminster Newton is an
important market town in the southern part of the Blackmore Vale. A
medieval six-arched bridge spans the river Stour and carries the
dire warning of 'transportation for life' for anyone who causes
damage to it! The 14th century 'Fiddleford Mill lies 1 mile east of
the town centre and has been fully restored to working order, there
is also a 17th century town mill near the river crossing. |
| The church is just a short distance from the market
square and is of the Perpendicular Style. It stands in a large
graveyard with views over the valley below. |
