Thomas Masterman Hardy born on
5 April 1769 in Martinstown, Dorset, He was the sixth child and
second son of Joseph Hardy of Portesham and Nanny his wife who was
daughter and co heiress of Thomas Masterman Gent. of Kingston
Russell and Winterborne St Martin . Nanny's parents were Thomas and
Mary Masterman. Like the Hardys the Mastermans were original natives
of Portesham where they held the farm at Friar Waddon. |
