~ St.Thomas á
Becket, Lydlinch ~ |
|
|
A lane turning south from the
A357 takes you past a farm and through a ford negotiating the River
Lydden, but before you reach the farm are a cluster of older
properties and to one side of these is the Parish Church of St
Thomas a Becket. It dates from the 13th century and still retains a
peal of five bells in its tower, these bells being heard for many
miles in the peaceful Vale of Blackmoor. |
| Before the church porch lies the tomb of the Lady of
Lydlinch whose identity is unknown, but she left to the rector of
the church forever the tyths from two farms. |
