A Georgian market town on the
river stour. Blandford Forum has a history of destruction by fire
and in 1731 most of the town was destroyed. Only about 50 houses
escaped out of over 500. The church is one of the finest Georgian
provincial churches which was finished in 1739 and was designed by
John Bastard. It has a square tower and inside are nave with ionic
columns, a font, western gallery and canopied Mayor's Seat. John
Bastard and his brother also designed the Gothic Town Hall.
