The church sits on the edge of
the Blackdown Hills, from where there are open views over the valley
towards the distant hills of Somerset and Devon. The church is 15th
century and inside are various monuments to members of the Ayshford
family who's old home is nearby at Westleigh. The last of the
Ayshford's was buried in the 14th century chapel at their home in
1675. Nearby are the ruins of a 13th century nunnery. |
