~ St.Mary, Aylesbeare ~ |
|
|
Aylesbeare with its thatched
vicarage is situated between the rivers the Exe and Otter and among
gently sloping hills. Its church dates from the 15th century
although parts of the tower may date from the 13th century. Enter
through the porch with its ancient door, inside the nave has a wagon
roof painted black and white. Carved leaves adorn the 14th century
font, nearby one of the pillars - |
| - has a peephole cut through, a small doorway in the
tower still has the original door and hinges. |
