Penryn recorded in the
Domesday Book, the Bishop Bronescombe gave it a charter in the 13th
century and founded Glasney College for Clergy, the ruins can still
be seen. Penryn is a town built of granite its houses, walls and
pavements give it a grey look. The main street runs steeply down to
the creek and the wharfs, from here Penryn Granite was shipped, it
was used to build Waterloo Bridge. |
| St.Gluvias is the town church, its tower is 15th century
and most other parts of the church were refurbished in 1954. Inside
there are monument from Tudor and Jacobean times also brasses set in
the floor. |
