~ St.Melorus, Mylor ~ |
| Mylor is a parish 2 miles east of Penryn.
The church takes it's name from Meilyn (or Melorus) the son of a
British prince who embraced Christianity and was put to death for so
doing on the spot where the church now stands, August 28th, 411.
Originally Norman the church was dedicated in 1308, built in the
Norman and Perpendicular Styles and consists of a chancel, nave,
south aisle, north and south transepts, south porch and embattled
turret on the western gable. Some distance from the church stands a
belfry containing three bells. |
