It is probable the first
church here was built by the Normans, non of this church remains
although parts of the present church stand on its foundations. The
church we see today dates mainly from the fourteenth century, this
includes chancel, transept and base of the tower. The north ailse
with 26 winged angels supporting the roof timbers, upper stages of
the tower and porch are from the fifteenth century. there is a peel
of six bells , the earliest was cast in 1772 by the Rudhall's
Foundry. |
