Lostwithiel sitting in the
valley of the River Fowey with the 700 year old Restormel Castle
high on the hill nearby. The church tower and spire rise to 110',
the tower was built in the thirteenth century with buttresses and
lancets and the octagonal spire added in the fifteenth century. The
east window is 30' high and contains 80+ figures telling the story
of the crucifixion. A 500 year old brass portrait show Tristram
Curteys in armour, he was an MP when Henry V was King. |
