The church was built by a
mayor of St.Ives, it stands high on a hill with views of the
Atlantic. At one time the church would have been the centre of this
tin mining community, but alas no longer. St.Ives artist have
enriched the church with their paintings, the chancel screen
displays twelve paintings of local men from all walks of life as the
Twelve Apostles, Matthew is depicted by the artist himself, William
Eadie. The east window was designed in St.Ives and shows the
Nativity, Our Lord and the Madonna and St. John. On the chancel wall
is a medallion of Italian mosaic of St.John. |
