~ St.Carwenna, Crowan ~ |
| Crowan is a township and parish 4 miles south of
Camborne. The church is constructed of granite in the gothic style
and consists of a chancel, nave, aisles and an enbattled western
tower, 70 feet high which houses 6 bells. There are several
monuments to the St. Aubyn family and ancient brasses dating
1400-1599. These were bedded in slate and replaced in the aisle in
1893. In 1892 a vestry and organ chamber were built and an organ
installed. The register of baptisms dates from the year 1692,
marriages 1696 and burials 1663. |
