Parish Church dedicated to St
Mary This is a parish on the very eastern boundary of Cornwall, it
lies on the slopes of the Tamar valley with views towards Devonport.
The burial ground of the church bears witness to the fact that many
natives of the parish went to Devonport and even further afield to
seek their fortunes, but obviously wished their remains to return to
the peaceful parish of - |
| - their birth. Monumental inscriptions carved in slate
have been put on the exterior church wall and date from as early as
1737. Within the church is a graceful figure of a medieval knight in
repose in an alcove on the north wall. Just within the south porch
the village stocks have been placed for safekeeping, but sadly as
the woodworm have found them very attractive they may not be there
for future generations to wonder at. |
